![]() The breadth of options in character and NPC interactions are wide, as well as deep. Delivered in a well-spoken British voice that seems destined for storytelling, this adds depth to the whole experience and is a blessed relief from reading reams of text in older CRPGs. But all the lines are voice acted, and there’s a narrator who reads out a lot of flavor text. The approach to NPC conversations is typical CRPG fare, where you select your responses. (I’m keeping this vague as I don’t want to let any spoilers free.) You start to figure out why you are where you are, and what your position is in the world. You then find yourself in a world that has a few newer fantasy tropes (elves are a downtrodden and displaced race), but also full of mystery and intrigue. You can also create a fully customized character. And that's evident from the very start, with a character creation process that lets you choose from a mix of compelling folks, from a dwarf pirate to a slightly pompous red lizard man. Historically, this has often been the work of some third party manipulating them for their own ends. On rare occasions, the Orc clans will unite in an attempt to attack other civilizations. ![]() As the orc clans all have vastly different standards of behaviour, resulting much of their being time fighting amongst themselves many of their interactions will have one clan take offence at what another clan thought was a harmless act. Orcish culture is based heavily around honour, to the point that a perceived insult to an orc's honour is enough to start a fight to the death. In 611 AD, Go-Dar joined the other races as the orc representative to the League of Seven (a precursor to the Council of Seven) at Stormfist Castle against Chaos and the League of the Damned (the precursor to the Black Ring). Īlthough they have been seen on the side of the aggressor, the orcs have also aligned themselves with the other sentient races. Eventually, they would be recognized as a sapient race and given a seat on the Council.Įven after their recognition, they were manipulated or enslaved in 4 AR they were manipulated by the Immaculattes and used as the physical army for the "religious" group and most recently, enslaved by the Black Ring to lead their armies in Ferol as part of their plan to revive the god Chaos in 1218 AD. In Rivellon's ancient history the cycle of enslavement continued: Orcs were not considered sapient, and were often enslaved by the other races the Council of Six even once voted on a motion that would allow the use of orc meat as emergency rations. Created and slaved by the god Vrogir, the orcs were his control his departure from Rivellon with the other gods. ![]()
